Polish

Translate Polish, with no signal at all.

Typed Polish translation runs on your iPhone with nothing connected. The camera reads Polish on the phone too, and more accurately online, so it uses a signal when there is one. Below are two real scans, unedited.

Typing works with no signal

Download the Polish pack once, over hotel wifi, and typed translation runs on the phone from then on — as it does in all 58 languages.

The camera reads it better online

Your iPhone can read Polish on its own, and reads it more accurately with a connection — so it uses the connection when there is one and the phone when there is not.

Speech depends on your iPhone

Spoken translation uses Apple's own speech packs, which cover about half of these languages and differ from phone to phone — so the app tells you if it cannot hear Polish rather than failing while someone waits. How speech works.

Two real ones, printed and photographed

Both went through the app on an iPhone from pages we had printed, so the Polish is known rather than guessed. What came back is below it, unedited.

A pharmacy label

Printed on it

  1. Przyjmować jedną tabletkę dwa razy dziennie
  2. Połknąć z wodą po jedzeniu
  3. Nie pić alkoholu w trakcie leczenia
  4. Przechowywać w chłodnym i suchym miejscu
  5. Zapytaj lekarza, jeśli ból nie ustępuje

What the app gave back

  1. Take one tablet twice
  2. a day
  3. Swallow with water after eating
  4. Do not drink alcohol during treatment
  5. Keep in cool and dry
  6. place
  7. Ask your doctor if the pain does not give way

Read and translated on an iPhone, 1 September 2026, from a page we had printed — so the original is known rather than guessed. Nothing here is tidied up.

Two lines were split in reading, but the meaning held: "Take one tablet twice" and "a day" landed on separate lines, with the dose intact. "Do not drink alcohol during treatment" is exactly right.

A restaurant menu

Printed on it

  1. Menu dnia
  2. Zupa jarzynowa z chlebem
  3. Grillowany kurczak z ziemniakami
  4. Świeża ryba dnia
  5. Ciasto czekoladowe
  6. Kawa i herbata w cenie

What the app gave back

  1. Menu on
  2. Vegetable soup with bread
  3. Grilled chicken with potatoes
  4. fresh fish day
  5. Chocolate cake
  6. Coffee and tea in the price

Read and translated on an iPhone, 1 September 2026, from a page we had printed — so the original is known rather than guessed. Nothing here is tidied up.

The dishes came through, but the heading did not: "Menu dnia" came back as "Menu on", and the fish as "fresh fish day". Nothing here would make you order the wrong thing.

Questions

Does Polish camera translation work offline?

Yes, and better with a connection. The phone reads Polish on its own; the online reader is more accurate, so SofiLingo uses it when there is a signal and the phone when there is not.

Does typed Polish translation work offline?

Yes. Download the Polish pack once, over wifi, and typing runs entirely on the phone from then on. That is true of all 58 languages.

How good is the Polish translation?

Good enough for menus, signs and tickets, and not for anything that matters legally or medically. The two examples on this page are unedited, mistakes included, so you can judge it yourself before you pay anything.

Can SofiLingo hear spoken Polish?

It depends on your iPhone. Spoken translation uses Apple’s own speech packs, which cover about half of the 58 languages and differ from phone to phone, so the app tells you before you start if it cannot hear Polish.
