Danish

Translate Danish, with no signal at all.

Typed Danish translation and the camera both run on your iPhone, so a menu or a sign in Danish can be read in flight mode. Below are two real ones, printed, photographed and translated by the app, and left unedited.

Typing works with no signal

Download the Danish pack once, over hotel wifi, and typed translation runs on the phone from then on — as it does in all 58 languages.

The camera reads it on the phone

Your iPhone reads Danish from a photograph itself. Nothing is sent anywhere, and it works with the phone in flight mode.

Speech depends on your iPhone

Spoken translation uses Apple's own speech packs, which cover about half of these languages and differ from phone to phone — so the app tells you if it cannot hear Danish rather than failing while someone waits. How speech works.

Two real ones, printed and photographed

Both went through the app on an iPhone from pages we had printed, so the Danish is known rather than guessed. What came back is below it, unedited.

A pharmacy label

Printed on it

  1. Tag én tablet to gange om dagen
  2. Synk med vand efter måltidet
  3. Drik ikke alkohol under behandlingen
  4. Opbevares køligt og tørt
  5. Spørg din læge, hvis smerten fortsætter

What the app gave back

  1. Take one tablet twice a day sink with water after the meal Do not drink alcohol during treatment Keep cool and dry Ask your doctor if the pain continues

Read and translated on an iPhone, 1 September 2026, from a page we had printed — so the original is known rather than guessed. Nothing here is tidied up.

All five lines ran together into one when read, yet the instructions survived: the dose, the alcohol warning and storage are right. The slip is that "Synk" came back as "sink with water after the meal" rather than swallow.

A railway station sign

Printed on it

  1. Hovedbanegården
  2. Spor 3
  3. Tog til lufthavnen
  4. Køb din billet, før du stiger på
  5. Udgang til højre

What the app gave back

  1. Central station
  2. Track 3
  3. Train to the airport
  4. Buy your ticket before you rise on
  5. Exit to the right

Read and translated on an iPhone, 1 September 2026, from a page we had printed — so the original is known rather than guessed. Nothing here is tidied up.

The platform and destination are right ("Spor 3" became "Track 3"), but "Køb din billet, før du stiger på" came back as "Buy your ticket before you rise on", which only half makes sense. "Exit to the right" is correct.

What works offline in all 58 languages.

Questions

Does Danish camera translation work offline?

Yes. Your iPhone reads Danish from a photograph itself, so a scan works in flight mode and nothing is sent anywhere.

Does typed Danish translation work offline?

Yes. Download the Danish pack once, over wifi, and typing runs entirely on the phone from then on. That is true of all 58 languages.

How good is the Danish translation?

Good enough for menus, signs and tickets, and not for anything that matters legally or medically. The two examples on this page are unedited, mistakes included, so you can judge it yourself before you pay anything.

Can SofiLingo hear spoken Danish?

It depends on your iPhone. Spoken translation uses Apple’s own speech packs, which cover about half of the 58 languages and differ from phone to phone, so the app tells you before you start if it cannot hear Danish.
