Czech

Translate Czech, with no signal at all.

Typed Czech translation and the camera both run on your iPhone, so a menu or a sign in Czech can be read in flight mode. Below are two real ones, printed, photographed and translated by the app, and left unedited.

Typing works with no signal

Download the Czech pack once, over hotel wifi, and typed translation runs on the phone from then on — as it does in all 58 languages.

The camera reads it on the phone

Your iPhone reads Czech from a photograph itself. Nothing is sent anywhere, and it works with the phone in flight mode.

Speech depends on your iPhone

Spoken translation uses Apple's own speech packs, which cover about half of these languages and differ from phone to phone — so the app tells you if it cannot hear Czech rather than failing while someone waits. How speech works.

Two real ones, printed and photographed

Both went through the app on an iPhone from pages we had printed, so the Czech is known rather than guessed. What came back is below it, unedited.

A railway station sign

Printed on it

  1. Hlavní nádraží
  2. Nástupiště 3
  3. Vlaky na letiště
  4. Kupte si jízdenku před nástupem
  5. Východ vpravo

What the app gave back

  1. Central Station
  2. Platform 3
  3. Trains to the airport
  4. Buy a ticket before boarding
  5. Exit on the right

Read and translated on an iPhone, 1 September 2026, from a page we had printed — so the original is known rather than guessed. Nothing here is tidied up.

Every line right. "Nástupiště 3" came back as "Platform 3", and the ticket and exit lines say exactly what the sign says.

A pharmacy label

Printed on it

  1. Užívejte jednu tabletu dvakrát denně
  2. Spolkněte s vodou po jídle
  3. Během léčby nepijte alkohol
  4. Uchovávejte na chladném a suchém místě
  5. Zeptejte se lékaře, pokud bolest přetrvává

What the app gave back

  1. Take one tablet twice a day Swallow with water after eating during treatment Do not drink alcohol in cool and dry place Ask doctors if the pain persists

Read and translated on an iPhone, 1 September 2026, from a page we had printed — so the original is known rather than guessed. Nothing here is tidied up.

And this is the bad one. The label's five lines were read as one, and the translation reshuffled the phrases: it came back as "Swallow with water after eating during treatment Do not drink alcohol in cool and dry place". The dose line is right, but the alcohol warning is no longer clear.

What works offline in all 58 languages.

Questions

Does Czech camera translation work offline?

Yes. Your iPhone reads Czech from a photograph itself, so a scan works in flight mode and nothing is sent anywhere.

Does typed Czech translation work offline?

Yes. Download the Czech pack once, over wifi, and typing runs entirely on the phone from then on. That is true of all 58 languages.

How good is the Czech translation?

Good enough for menus, signs and tickets, and not for anything that matters legally or medically. The two examples on this page are unedited, mistakes included, so you can judge it yourself before you pay anything.

Can SofiLingo hear spoken Czech?

It depends on your iPhone. Spoken translation uses Apple’s own speech packs, which cover about half of the 58 languages and differ from phone to phone, so the app tells you before you start if it cannot hear Czech.
